Michael Warren Art
Official Artist in Residence · Battersea Power Station · Since 1986
Original oil paintings, watercolours, sketches and limited edition fine art prints of Battersea Power Station and London by British artist Michael Warren. Trained at Goldsmiths and St Martin's School of Art, Michael was appointed official Artist in Residence at Battersea Power Station in 1986 — a relationship that has produced over 200 works documenting one of Britain's most extraordinary buildings.
His Battersea series spans oil paintings on canvas, watercolours, charcoal sketches, pen and ink studies and pencil drawings, capturing the building across four decades of change — from industrial decay through the construction hoardings of the 1980s and 1990s, to the vivid cranes and steelwork of the modern regeneration era. A selection of his paintings now hangs permanently in the Power Station itself.
Alongside the Battersea series, Michael's work encompasses London figurative subjects, military ceremony, Kensington Gardens, scenes from India and the English countryside. His paintings are held in private collections across the United Kingdom and internationally.
